iphonebook concept
So I think this concept is completely awesome and since I do alot of iPhone art it kind of makes me want to figure a way to replicate this and create an iphone story book.
new site for 3D and monster related projects
I started a new site for strictly 3D creations of monsters and creatures. There will mainly only be images posted of basic sketches, process and the final build of each creature. the projects posted on their now are mainly older things that you probably have already seen. I am planning to post one projects month of something 3D and dimensional.

An Experiment in Cardboard Characters
I just completed this first CardBot character made out of cardboard and a few sticks of hot glue. I wanted to try to make something with material other then sculpey or poly-clay, to mix things up. What I really like about the cardboard is the 'poor mans' approach to making and creating stuff. It costs next to nothing and takes very little time to take a design from an idea to a dimensional working sample. If I get enough time I would like to have an entire army of cardboard robots by the end of the week.

2006 Honda Ridgeline
After making the modern day muscle cars I wanted to do a quick sketch of my current ride, the Ridgeline. It still needs some work on the front end and windshield perspective. but for now I am pretty happy with the result.

Tiny red
First sketch done on the newly released Brushes v2.0 I really like the exact pixel selection for the brush size and obviously the layers tool. I keep forgetting the layers exist and so far focus on the brush and eraser tools.

Red Skele-ghost
This Skele-Ghost was sketch n my iPhone with the Brushes app. Still a favorite application for drawing on the go. This character is just a simple study for ghoulish monsters for a Halloween project I am working on. I will have more details to post in the next few weeks regarding the Haunted house I am working on in Chicago. I am currently coming up with themes and characters to present at our first meeting.

self portrait - hybrid zombie-bot
The zombie theme continues! This started as a quick snapshot I took of my self with my iPhone. Then I imported it into the camera bag app and picked the theme Cinema to add the theater wide screen ration (black bars). Then I de-constructed my face with the Brushes app and altered my appearance to a Zombie-Bot character.
zombie washington
I couldnt let a perfectly good portrait sketch g to waste. So I decided to Zombie it up 60%. I think I will do one more zombie Washington but with another stage of decay.

scratch board set up
There is a cool new app that came out for the iphone called Layers. It allows your to digitally draw on your iphone and utilize layers alot like photoshop does.
In this post I am including a snap shot of how I used layers to create a simple scratchboard. I like doing illustration in which your main tool is more of an eraser then a pen/pencil. I think its called reductive drawing.

Week 22: falling
It has been a while since I did an iphone painting project for the weekly brushes group on Flickr. This weeks theme is FALLING. It probably was a good thing I had a reference folder of over 100 people falling from a past project to pick out the perfect pose.
over the horizon
for some reason I really enjoy silhouette artwork. I made another pirate ship fleet. The ships design work well for this style and adding the little ropes and tie offs give quick subtle detail.
I-80 roadtrip
here is one of many brushes sketches I did I my iphone while traveling from Denver to Chicago. This was somewhere along I-80 in Nebraska. such a long and boring road it is.

old creek
Here is a new color study silhouette sketch done on my iPhone with the BRUSHES app. I need to focus more on story and landscape and less on the characters.
close up
I forgot to post this last week. someones facebook profile had something similar so I liked the picture and drew it in BRUSHES on my iPhone at one of my lunch breaks

MJ tribute - Brushes weekly project
While most people sketched out classic Smooth Criminal and Black and White MJ, I choose for the more rockin costume of Zombie, Micheal. I wonder if his corpse will look like this or if after so many years of plastic surgery it will just forever hold its form for archeologist to dig up millions of years from now.
While sketching this out, I realized how closely his make-up resembles that of the Twilight Zone episode "Eye of the Beholder"

you should have seen his last sculpture
Finally some artwork has been posted! I was checking out Andrew Bells latest sketches on www.creaturesinmyhead.com and after viewing like 100 or so, I decided to make a quick sketch in the style of Andrew Bell. I really need to pick up his newest bok DO NOT EAT. soo many awesome unique creatures.

2009 DIY electric drumkit

It took a few weekends to complete, but the new and improved DIY E-drums are done. Over the next couple of months I will probably up grade to a roland dual trigger mesh snare drum and a Yamaha dual trigger ride cymbal. The current setup sounds really good and even feels pretty solid when playing on it.
Alesis Trigger IO Drum module (USB powered drum brain)
MacBook Pro running BFD 2.0 (over 5 gigs of sampled percussion sounds)
DW practice pad drum kit converted to Electric drumset with Radio Shack 273-0073 sensors
2 Roland single trigger percussion pads
1 Yamaha Cymbal trigger
DW Bass drum pedal
Rockband2 bass drum pedal (works great as a hi-hat controller)
